I don't want to appear argumentative or ill-natured but I'd be totally shocked at their naivety if someone actually did suspect that walnuts might not be dairy or gluten-free!
Most nuts are very healthy and contain scads of valuable trace elements and vitamins. I love all nuts and all of the cakes and biscuits that are made from any of them. I got some cashew-butter from a health-food shop once and it's God-like stuff. Ditto almond-butter0 -

I love nut butters and have recently started making my own:

I have made both of the above and they are very tasty.
I love eating nuts too.I'd read that of all the nuts, almonds were 'king'.Across the board, all nuts are good for you in moderation and unsalted if possible.0 -

I've eyed up those nut-butter recipes before on the site and one day, when I have some form of food-processor, I shall be making my own.0 -
I'm glad to hear it. Last year was the first year that we had a decent crop of walnuts. They started to dry up in the shell so I spent an afternoon shelling them then froze then. We've still a few left.0

I eat some nuts most days, unsalted. Walnuts are definitely the best, then brazils, almonds, hazelnuts.
I don't like pecans or cashews though.0
