Advice on getting a courier to pick up from england please

I am hoping some of you will help me out... i am after an item on ebay (a dressmaker dummy) but it is pick up only from england, but they said i could bid on it if i arrange a courier...Help!!! ....how do I go about doing this and how do I find out how much it will cost and who will I use? any advice please? thanks x

Phone some of the various couriers TNT, DHL, DPD (probably your best bet), Parcel force etc... give them the approximate "Boxed" size of the item as your price will probably be based upon the items "Cubed weight" rather than actual weight due to its size. Tell them where the item is & where its going to ... Simples0

Just make sure the seller is happy to package the item for you and how much it will cost for packaging.
A lot of sellers only list collection only because they don't want to or are not able to package the item. If its not in a proper box with adequate packing it will arrive damaged.0 -

this is a very good point because if your item isn't boxed and arrives damaged you will not be able to cliam from the courierDEC GC £463.67/£450

Do not use Shiply, they add on an extra surcharge which is very high, plus they do not have telephone customer service. They are very bad if there's a problem.
Try anyvan.com instead, they do not charge an extra deposit, you only pay the courier, and they have real people on the phones if there's a problem.0 -
