Northern Rock

Just to keep this separate from my other post, I am going through a mortgage rescue at present. Our mortgage was with Northern Rock and we defaulted when my ex became unemployed and I became seriously ill and could no longer work. They have refused to stop interest, despite neither of us being in a position to be able to make payments and so the costs are going up with a £25 charge per month plus the interest. How do I get them to freeze the account now? All being well, my local authority is taking over the property at the end of the month and then renting it back to me. At that point the house will be sold to the local authority and the outstanding arrears will be put on a different interest rate (they basically hammer us for the unsecured part). Again, as we are neither of us in a position to pay anything like they're asking, is there any way we can get interest frozen?
