Hamper for post marathon

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas for a things I could put in a hamper for my mum - she's doing the moonwalk marathon to raise awareness of breast cancer in May. It's a full marathon so she'll be walking the 26 miles overnight through London. I'll be waiting for her at the end and wanted to give her a hamper as a surprise when we get home for things she can use to pamper herself (once she's had a good nap of course!)

So far I've got a couple of ideas -
radox muscle soak
foot soak/moisturising cream
chocolate

All suggestions welcome :D
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.:p

A little memory box or scrapbook so she can keep momentos and piccies from the day in it?

    A few suggestions:

Some comfortable fluffy socks for that relaxing "after the bath" feeling of comfort.
A winner's medal. I've seen you can buy them in Tesco, just cheap little ones.
Agreed about the warm drinks - I was going to suggest a multipack of different teas (and you take a flask of hot water :) )

I don't know whether I'd put them in a hamper, but I'd want a hairbrush and a pack of wet wipes to make myself feel a bit more presentable after doing that exercise! It's a lovely idea, well done for thinking of it. :)

  • Thanks for the inspiration:) I thought about putting some tiger balm in too. I think she deserves a treat after all that walking. It's a great idea for the duck and the medal!! I'll make sure I've got a flask of strong coffee, pro plus and wet wipes to combat that 'way too much exercise' feeling :rotfl:

If your hamper is anything like the bags I've gotten after finishing the London Marathon, there should be some cranberry sauce in there, some inedible cereal bars, some washing powder, some random money-off vouchers and some jelly babies :rotfl:

Of those, the only ones I'd keep would be the jelly babies. Maybe some fresh orange juice, some comfortable slippers?

And if it's your Mum's first marathon, take some tissues to the finish line - she'll be in floods. I thought I wouldn't be when I finished my first one but I soooooo was!

Well done to your Mum to doing it - I did my first the year after having breast cancer/double mastectomy/reconstruction and I've always done them for breast cancer charities.

And, hey, let's not forget that it's 26.2 miles! That .2 is very important ;)

Sounds like the bags we've got after doing the race for life! It's my mum's first marathon and she's a bit nervous as she thinks being 48 is more than a little late to be attempting a marathon, never mind one that's over night and done in just her bra on her top half!! Well done to you for doing it :T

I think I'm going to put a little bag together for straight after with a brush/wetwipe/body spray/pain killers/water in and now tissues will be added to the list :)

Nah, 48's nothing! I finished the second LM I did with Jordan/Katie Price's mum and it was her first one too. I did the last 6 miles with her and shared her energy sweets. Didn't even know it was Jordan's mum until I'd crossed the finish line and my sister said, 'Oooh, look, there's Jordan's mum!!!'.

Energy sweets, that's a good one to put in. Those rectangular dextrose ones are good.
  • Energy sweets added to the list :) Thank you
