We do 250 a month. Two adults, 2 children and a cat. It can go over when we want treats etc but i know that if we are having a tight month my budget is 250 quid and i can do it. I tend to do 120 quid at ASDA for a months freezer and cupboard and that includes 2 weeks of fridge. I do 30 quid at Lidl for the month plus i pick up the weekend offers if they are good. I then use the reminder for what we need as top ups and i go to whatever shops are giving the best offers.Cleaning stuff and little bit of toiletrees is included in my asdfa shop at the beginning ( i tend to go for glitches at bodyshop, boots etc) so have enough toiletrees for the next year. Everything i buy is mainly value unless it meat or bread. But i buy 3 for ten on meat and buy 3 loafs for 2 quid and freeze them from asda. I have a bread machine and once these loafs are used up ai then bake my own. I bought cad food from pets at home when that Glitch was on a few weeks back so got enough for the next three months. The secret is bulk buying especially when there are glitches and offers. I never pay full price for anything. Because i keep the food shop down we can then afford to treat ourselves to takeaway once a month or by using a discount voucher for restaurants that i get from on here. For example we are off to pizza hut next thursday night and i have 50 per cent voucher. If your only doing 150 a month then you need to give us your tips as that is great. I could not get mine under 250 without us as a family going without but i use to do 600 a month and then we used to eat out on top so i am quite happy with 250 a month x'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0

I think it sounds very low with 150/ month for a family of 3, in particular if you are trying to buy healthy food (vegetables, fruit, meat, fish) as opposed to ready made and/or processed foods. It seems a lot more expensive to buy good ingredients than for example potato smilies and chicken nuggets... and fruit costs more than crisps or chocolate.0
