Let me make a list of bank holidays, perhaps that will make it easier for you to understand.
1. January 1st (taken on Monday 3rd this year)
2. Good Friday
3. Easter Monday
4. May Bank Holiday (Monday 2nd)
5. Spring Bank Holiday (Monday 30th)
6. August Bank Holiday (Monday 29th)
7. Christmas Day (taken Tuesday 27th this year)
8. Boxing Day (Monday 26th)
So, 8 in total, this year 7 falling within the OPs normal working days this week, which as I said is the worst case.
There is a 9th holiday this year, for the royal wedding on April 29th, which even if the OP's employer is giving it is on a Friday so wouldn't affect them.
If you work in a part of the UK that gives additional holidays then yes, there may be others on a Monday, but they are not official bank holidays.0 -
When I last worked part time I was contracted to do 18.5 hours and I worked Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday.
When a bank holiday fell I would get 3hrs 42m bank holiday allowance, and if it were my working day I would have to fund the rest myself (out of flexi or annual leave). If the bank holiday fell on my non working day (just say good Friday) then I would be given 3hr 42m time on my flexi card, because no matter what days I worked I was entitled to pro-rata bank holidays (ie 50%).Start Date: 27/11/2010
Padding: Day 42
Target £8000
Amount: £562.230 -
Just to turn the situation on its head, what would the OP have their employer do? Were you expecting to get the bank holidays off but not have to take them out of your annual leave entitlement?0
