When i use vinegar round my taps and sink in the bathroom, it breaks down all the limescale deposits. I am sure it would continue to do this in your washing machine - but if your unsure, you can put a scoop of bicarbonate of soda in your drum with the clothes as that will definately keep your limescale deposits down. I did it for years as i was told it was good in the washing for allergies. My heater elements were limescale free when i came to chuck the washers. (I know that cause hubby used to strip the washers for parts). I dont do it now as i am finding it increasingly hard to find a reasonably priced box of bicarb.

I've replied there but willhere too as more people are subscribed to this.

the stuff you are buying from supermarkets including places like costco and makro are of a food grade standard and therefore will be expensive even in big quantities. if you are ONLY going to be using this for cleaning type processes it might be worth getting a non food grade from somewhere like this http://www.soapkitchenonline.co.uk/acatalog/On_line_store_Ingredients_for_bath_salts_and_bath_bombs_3.html
