final demand/repossession letters sent in error

We have a RBS mortgage which fell into arrears about 2 years ago.
We recieved a final demand and repossession order but have had a formal payment arrangement with RBS which has been fully met since (no missed payments at all).
Over the last 5-6 months we have received numerous letters from RBS (and Tesco Finance AND NatWest - neither of which we have any financial connection at all)) threatening repossession.
I raised a formal complaint with RBS who have inequivocally admitted that we should not have received any of the letters and in addition that not only sent incorrectly, the ones from Tesco Finance and NatWest were from RBS but on the wrong letter headed paper.
Today we have received another letter threatening repossession. After calling RBS this it transpires has also been sent in error.
This episode has caused so much stress to my wife (especially) and myself that I am thinking of seeking financial compensation.
Has anybody else had similar happen to them and can I make a claim.
Thanks to all in advance of any help

Such antics are not untypical of RBS.

Some years ago I worked in an arrears dept but not RBS. We were trying to get people onto an arrangement they could stick to.
Its the people that have no intention of paying at all that arrears teams chase hard.
Are your payments definately reaching the mortgage account on the due date? If not this might be the problem.
I also wonder if your arrangement is not properly registered on their system? I would try to speak to their Head of Complaints Dept at their Head Office.
This person usually gets things moving. I would also try contacting the financial ombudsman for guidance.
I don't know about compensation I'm afraid.0 -
Thanks Moneybags
Yes all payments are up to date and in reply to my initial complaint RBS did blame a switch in computer systems and lack of internal communication but assured me this had been rectified.
All is up to date payment wise and this has been acknowledged by them. I will contact FOS for advice though.
Many thanks0 -
Far too much stress...go after them like they have to you...then if you are not happy go to the banking ombudsman.
good luck.It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

I'm also keen to know how this turned out? I posted on the 'Loans' forum earlier today. I have a loan with Halifax which they incorrectly passed to debt collectors (Albion) to recover - they've now admitted human error on their part (someone processed that I had requested to withdraw from the loan agreement - which I didn't, there's been no communication at all between returning the paperwork and the threatening letter from Albion). The worry and stress caused by being pursued by the debt recovery agency is awful - Albion were not very nice at all, and I'm still very concerned about repercussions on my credit file. Halifax are actually saying the withdrawal request can't be stopped (even when they've made a mistake?!) and I need to sign paperwork for a new duplicate loan... Just what will that do to my credit file?! Anyway, Tixy gave me some good advice so I'm going to send them a letter explaining everything and ask for them to give me in writing that they accept responsibility and the loan is all in order...0
