Mackenzie Hall/Aktiv Kapital

Options
Good morning all.

I have recently recived a letter from Mackenzie Hall dept recovery.
The letter says that they are acting on behalf of Aktiv Kapital.

They say that they have been instucted by their client to recover an overdue account on their behalf.

The amount that they are looking to recover is £797.

I have no idea what this amount is concerning. I've heard that before I reconize this dept, I should ask them to prove the origins of this dept?
Now, my question to you guys is that is this advice true? and if it is how do I go about with this request?

Thanks in advance.

  • Thank you for your quick reply Fermi.

One more question if you don't mind.

If the dept is or not mine, what kind of response shall I expect?
I.e What kind of prove am I looking for?

Well, they need to prove it is yours or just "get lost".

    Proof?

Depends on what the debt is really, but basically something that would stand up in court. If they don't have that, then they don't have any business asking you to pay something.

Perhaps trying to enforce the unenforcible is their entire business plan? :D

Put MacKenzie Hall in the search bar and you'll get an idea of how they operate.

One word of warning...don't ring them or take any phone calls from them.

All correspondence in writing starting with the 'Prove It' letter as advised above. You'll probably get a ' We've passed it back to our client' letter in response which basically means they know they can do sod all about it.

What's been said about MH thus far in this thread is entirely correct.

MH are toothless - utterly useless, even by DCA standards.

If you ask them for documentary proof of debt, you won't get it - they'll shunt it off to another company as quickly as they can.

I'm not surprised it's SBed - most of the 'debts' they seem to get are, and will have already done the rounds through other agencies, like First Credit.
  • Would I have to send a £1 postal order with the letter?

Not with an SB letter. You only need enclose a postal order if you were sending a CCA request.
