Incorrect address on credit report?

Options
I moved address in October 2009. I informed the tax office, my employer, all banks I use etc. But I forgot to remove myself from the electoral roll in the area I used to live in.

Now my credit report (well, Experian - I've never looked at any others) shows my address as the previous address, and me being on the electoral roll in that area, from ??-??-20?? (I can't remember the date, sorry) to present.

How can I get the records changed to show I haven't lived at that address since October 2009? I plan to sort out the electoral roll issue tomorrow. Do I also need to write to Experian? Who else should I write to - other credit reference agencies? How do I ensure they change the address from the correct date and not just the date I tell them it's wrong - should I send a copy of my tenancy agreement, etc?

    Hi Sinstar,

You need to go onto the electoral role for your current address. Writing to experian will also do no harm, although it could take a while for the information to be updated on your file with your current address.

    Good luck

If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

When i moved to my current address, and was speaking to Experian on the phone when i was wanting to close my account, they said they couldnt do anything about address issues, you must get on your local electrol roll smartish to get this detail updated on your credit file, its possible it can take a while though, as alot of councils do updates in batches and not straight away.
