Work for disabled ex Serviceman

After suggestions, I have just found that I can earn up to £4900 a year and it not effect my War Pension, I need something though that fits around my disability as I can't do manual work, even sitting at a desk is a nightmare, but I could do with the money obviously.

I need something that I can do, over the course of a week, that isn't time critical, as some days I'm hardly able to dress, let alone do anything else. I know this is probably a pipe dream and i'd be lucky to earn anything, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Thanks

The first thing that springs to mind for you is writing. You don't say how much you want to earn, but freelance article sites can provide a good, if modest extra income. Check out Helium, Associated content, and Triond for starters. You can write articles on any topic you like, although admittedly topics closer to popular events/ products/ people will bring more interest, as will writing technical instructions or information about products that don't already have a lot of information on them.

I wouldn't bother with survey sites in general as they're a bit of a waste of time, but Pinecone research is worth it if you can get in (they are invite only). I tend to get around 1 survey per month, and they pay £3 within a couple of days either by voucher or paypal :)

Focus groups are extremely worthwhile - check out Code3 research and google for more focus groups in your area. You can get paid up to £200 (area Dependant/ usually around £60 in the midlands where i live) for 2 or so hours sitting in a room discussing whatever product is about to be marketed by a manufacturer such as energy drinks, chocolate, shampoo, etc etc.

If you want to take on something a little more formal, have a look at the sites peopleperhour.com and elancer.com These are where employers advertise freelance work they have available, and interested parties bid for it. They are great for picking up writing, research, sales, and admin type short or long projects. Just do your research on potential employers as there are many scams around.

    Good luck :)

  • Thank you for some great advice, I'll check them out :)

PS, I can earn up to £95 a week and not effect my pension, so something below that as I can't do much anyway because of my injuries and I would need to earn considerable more to make up for losing my pension, and I really, despite hating sitting around all day don't think I am capable of doing more than a couple of hours a day max. (Will effect Housing Benefit, so prefer something formal so it's simpler to declare though)

    What about website surveys/reports?

    http://www.emysteryshopper.com/

There are threads on here about them. I've no personal experience but I do have a friend who signed up after reading about them on here. It's not big money - £50-£100 a month? - but you could do the surveys as and when convenient.
