Declaration of abandonment

In relation to removing someone's name, from a mortgage, who has been absent for over six years and you do not have a forwarding address or contact details for them.

I am trying to halt the repossession of my home but unless I can get the mortgage changed to an interest only type, the arrears on the capital will keep mounting. The mortgage company already get the housing benefit I am entitled to paid directly to them. However Santander are NOT being at all helpful.

they have suggested I get a solicitor to draft a "Declaration of abandonment" first and foremost...then they will see what they can do. But apparently I need to have this declaration for them to change the mortgage to an interest only mortgage first and foremost as I cant track down me ex financ!e who left in 2005 and wrote them a letter stating he wanted nothing to do with the property as it was originally me ex marital home and he never contributed to the mortgage. He only came on the mortgage as a silent partner to help me remortgage quickly so I could buy out me ex hubby after a five year long battle in court for divorce.

I have been trying to get a resolution on this for nearly a year but they are not listening and now threatening to respossess me home in spite of all the phone calls and letters sent to them and in spite of the fact that back in 2008 I warned them of my being at risk of redundancy...and wanted to proactively resolve the situation...but they did nothing to help me and just passed me from pillar to post.

any advice will be welcomed cos I am at the end of me tether with people not giving me any tangible solutions / actions that I can do in order to find some kind of resolution until such toime as I secure employment.
