Sorry, haven't sold for a while. The system should make it easy for you to set up payments, etc. Surely that would have been sorted out when you did your listing?
I'm not sure why you had to tell your buyer your email address, as when you've bought something off ebay, payment details show up immediately, and you must have a registered email address to trade.
The buyer would have recieved notification they'd won the item, plus an invoice, so will be able to pay you from what they have recieved through ebay. After 7 days have passed, then you can raise a dispute.0 -
Hi thanks for all your help
I thought the buyer was taken to pay pal and had to enter the sellers e-mail address to send money.
Then some one said if you buy something on e-bay the payment button is automatically shown all they have to do is hit it.
To be safe I sent a nice e-mail saying that I would post the item when I received the payment along with my e-mail address just in case. I hope it goes ok then I will have the courage to sell some more things
I will let you know. any way if you had seen me last night when I found out that I had a bidder, Oh my giddy aunt! still cant believe I sold something. 0 -
Have you set up a paypal account? You will need to have an account to receive payments, otherwise ask the buyer to pay by cheque and explain that you will not send the item until payment has cleared. No Matter what you do there will be critics.0

Surely this would have been made clear in the original payment terms if the seller didn't have a paypal account? Shouldn't be a problem, as other payment options would have been stipulated such as BACS, cheque, COC, etc.0 -
hello
Thanks for your help, I hadn't thought of that, yes I have a pay pal account so I am hoping that the payment method will show when the buyer receives the invoice, otherwise I could be waiting forever. and knowing me I would too. If they want to put money in my bank do I have give them my bank details? Thats a bit scary! or will there be a button for visa? I did say I would accept other methods of payment so they may get back to me with a prefered method of payment other than paypal.
I think what was confusing was the invoice form which had a box which told you to send the buyer details of how they should pay. I thought it was done automatically like amazon, no problem selling on there.:)0 -

repeat after me bram
I will be a power seller (3 times).
I have put money direct into a sellers account before, but they sold as a business. I personally would not divulge such information, unless I was selling as a business. If you have a separate business account set up with all the necessary safe-guards, perhaps fine, but maybe better to go through Paypal? Can't comment as no experience regarding power selling.0 -

To clarify. You cannot list on ebay without filling in the box with your paypal ID, so as long as you put the correct paypal id in the payment box buyer can pay automatically. If you click on 'send invoice' the buyer gets all the info they need, including the post and packing charge automatically. Likewise if they go through checkout before you get to send an invoice they just have a 'pay now' button and the default is for paypal payments.
It is extremely rare for buyers to use anything other than paypal.
If you check your sold listing you can tell when they have paid. Then you need to log into paypal find their payment and take the address from that. If item is valuable then you will need to cover yourself against loss by using special delivery or a courier. If item is under£41 then standard mail will cover most (but not all) items against loss in the post, but won't protect you against a paypal chargeback.

If you have any problems come over and post on the ebay board (see my signature) as the regulars are happy to help. Get a few sales under your belt and then it will seem as easy as anything.
Just keep safe though, understand the risks and set your own comfort levels and you will be fine.
