Hi. Not really debt free related but Im a regular in this forum and has helped me through my DMP.
Basically yesterday morning I went to a barclays cash machine (my bank is the cooperative bank) and checked my balance..it said £263...so I went to withdraw £250...the screen then shows a message along the lines of...we're sorry but we cannot process your request at the moment...fair enough, it spits my card back out. I go across the road and try a santander machine, but then a message pops up saying...you have insuffient funds  So to the point...barclays debited my account but didnt give me the money!!! I rang the coop bank straight away and said nothing could be done right away, she took details and filled a form in etc, they will check cctv and see if I was seen taking the cash out  This is a lot of money in my case and had to borrow of family to pay my outgoings. Has this happend to anyone before? And what are the chances you think I'll get my money back, they said I will hear within 10 days, but Im not hopeful

How do you know that your account was debited by Barclays - does the time of the debit match the time you attempted to withdraw the money or could there be some discrepancy?
The possible reason for denying you the full £250 could just be that there are other payments "in the system" which have yet to be paid from your account.0 -
Yes it shows on my statement as 8.29 cash machine link...followed by a few numbers which is when I tried to withdraw the money. :think:0

That's weird, cash machines are supposed to be set up so if the notes run out the transaction does not appear on the account. Have you reported the machine to Barclays as broken? I would go to the nearest Barclays in the morning and talk to them about it. They should be able to start thier own enquirys. There has obviously been a mistake and by rights you ought to end up refunded but it's a massive PITA.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

I had wondered if the machine had been tampered with or altered in some way, so that the withdrawal was shewn as refused but actually transferred elsewhere.0 -
this happened to me right before xmas with a £100 transaction, hate to tell you but after saying it will be sorted in 14 days (natwest account and natwest machine) it actually took 3 weeks lots of phonecalls and a very angry call to a manager to get a refund, there was no explanation at the end of this process as to what had happened, very frustrating. Hope it easier for you, good luck.0
