I took out a loan 7 years ago and I've heard nothing about since?

Have you read section 24 of the Limitation Act 1980?
I am not a lawyer, but that does seem to suggest that, after six years, any court judgement in the claimant's favour could not be enforced, nor could interest thereon accrue beyond the six year limit.
Yes I have.
If a creditor obtains a court judgement they have 6years to collect the debt. After that period if they haven't collected the debt they have to go back to court to obtain permission to continue to pursue the debt (and as I understand it they have to explain to the court why they hadn't managed to collect in 6years).
But in the OPs case with a 7yo debt if the creditor or a DCA had got a court judgement then its pretty likely that the judgement would not be more than 6years old yet as they would have been pretty unlikely to have taken court action within the first year.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

It does apply to overdrafts, in fact it applies to most debts not just consumer credit debts.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
