Any help appreciated...

I received a letter a year or so ago (2010) from a debt collection company requesting payment for a credit card debt. I replied with a template letter which I found requesting more information and a copy of the credit agreement. I did not receive a reply despite the letter being signed for by recorded delivery.

I have just received another letter from the same company requesting payment again, but this time referring to a county court bulk centre claim which was entered against me in Sep 08.

I am very confused as to where I stand or what I should do next. I have called the bulk centre and the judgement is genuine, although I cannot understand why this is only been mentioned in correspondance now and not in correspondance last year.

Any advice is greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance.

    Hi there

Don't panic for a start! easier said than done, but if they were that bothered, they would have been chasing you all this time!

First thing I would do would be to speak to one of the free charitable organisations that will advise, someone like the Citizen's Advice Bureau, the CCCS, the National Debt Helpline, take your pick, as they all do a great job in helping people in your predicament.

Secondly, you need as much info about the (What looks like) court business. Did a creditor pass this over only recently to the courts? I'm no expert, but I think all on here would mirror my advice- get on the blower and get as much info as you can, then call one of the organisations I've listed, contact Experian or Equifax for a copy of your credit report and see what that shows, and check for threads here- I'm guessing someone will be along shortly who will offer amazing advice-trust me.

Hope it works out soon for you.
