Motivation......

Hi all
I have been reading the sites for many months and each time it inspires me to start tackling my debt. I start off ok, then something goes wrong or i am a bit stressed and it all goes out of control.. i end up buying lots of junk food, get cabs or waste money and although it makes me feel better for a few moments - i end up feeling worse than i did in the first place cos my debt gets even bigger.
The first thing I need to tackle is 6K on my credit cards. I have used the snowballling site and prioritsed my debts. I would just really love to have some support from someone who understands what it is like to have alot of debt, i spoke to my boyfriend about my debt and he has been understanding but i know he doesnt understand what it is like to owe such alot of money. I realise that i have to change my way of thinking and spending habits so if anyone has a similar amount of debt and wants to let me know how they are getting on with it we can try and motivate each other and keep ourselves on the straight and narrow. Hope to hear from you soon. LMS :j

Hi LMS - If you need motivation, then you'll certainly get it here:beer:
Why not post a full SOA, listing income, expenditur and debts, then the advice and motivation that you need will come flooding in.
Good Luck

it's good that your bf knows about your debt, at least you don't have to live with hiding it, thats a huge pressure you don't need.

Hi and welcome LittleMissSunshine, i endorse everything that Rog2 and
lynsayjane have said.
Take a look at southernscoucers sticky for first time posters.
Post SOA and we willsee how we can help you.:TAmazon No:170 -
Welcome to the boards, LittleMissSunshine :hello: - like the others have already said, you are in the right place for support and encouragement...there is no shortage of people here who will be able to understand how you feel to have £6,000 of debt (and in many cases, people on here will have/have had much more, so keep reading through their posts and take inspiration from them, because if they can do it, so can you!!
).
Please post an SOA - I know its difficult to lay open something as personal as all your spending habits, but the vast majority of people on here will just want to help you - and it is often easier to spot available savings when looking at somebody's SOA with a "fresh pair of eyes" (i.e. not your own SOA
). They will find savings when you think you have examined everything and made every available cut possible.
Good luck!

I was doing just the same as you OP. I got in touch with payplan, who do not charge you for their services. They made sense of everything for me,did the maths and wrote the letters.Seeing it all set out motivates you into organising yourself and sticking to your plan, they also show you how you should be budgeting for financial stability.Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)

Add an extra 0, then I have the same amount of debt
Motivation can be a real toughie at times. I find it helps having a signature with some goals in to update all the time, then it's not my dirty little secret anymore - everyone can tell if I've fallen off the band wagon!!
You'll get loads of good advice here - post an SOA and we may be able to help you get rid of it even quicker!Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). DFD - Aug 2014

Hi
You've definitely landed in the right place, and if it makes you feel any better we owe way way waaaaaay more than you, ner!
The simplest way to stop your habits sliding is to travel only with just the money you need. I know some days you can't be sure what you'll need, but on an average day don't take enough for a cab or takeaway or whatever. About three months ago I stopped carrying a credit card, and as of now I don't have a bank account. Nathaniel has set up a new one and so far I don't have a card on it, although once we've got salary and car sale money in the account we'll get me on there too, just taking it one step atm.
So, other than a small stash of cash (less than a fiver), I have no means of spending just now. I know that if I still had the credit card in my wallet I would have found myself justifying purchases or general spending. You could set yourself a budget of x a day, and anything leftover can either be thrown at the debt or be yours to do what you like with. It's quite satisfying to have really earnt a little splurge every once in a while, even if it's only a cab ride or a bar of chocolate!
Well done you for getting this far - it's half the battle :TIf you can't be a good example, be a dire warning
