  • Have you tried soaking them in nail polish remover? It takes a while to work but does disolve the false nail.

Okay, long process I'm afraid if you do it yourself. The way I find best is use a big nail file to buff off the bulk of the arylic but be careful not to go right through to your own nail. Then soak in pure acetone (ask at pharmacy) for a good 10-25mins, wipe with cotton wool pad also soaked in acetone and repeat until it disolves. Then use a fine buffer block to smooth them but again be very gentle. Then lots of hand and nail cream to rehydrate your hands and nails from the acetone.

Good luck, it can take ages but will work if you persevere.

If they are coming loose by themselves you can try and pry bits off. It isn't good for the underlying nail at all but I've done it in emergencies. This does depend on the acrylic though, some is much tougher than the Creative ones I used to have before switching to gel.

Otherwise as faithcecelia says file off as much as possible and soak the rest off in pure acetone. If you try and use ordinary varnish remover you will be there for hours.

Othewise if they just look grown out and unsightly, fiiling down the ridge where the artificial nail meets the real nail and repainting can give an acceptable cosmetic result until you have time to do a proper job.
  • Tried and tested the method above, takes ages but worth it x

Ohhhhh please be very careful not to go too far down and buff your natural nail.

Also it will need to be pure acetone you use, once you lift the nail ou of the acetone it will start to 're-harden' almost immediately so work on one finger at a time and where possible wipe the nail with cotton wool whilst it is still in the acetone. Obviously dont do this if you have any little cuts or nicks onyour fingers..........believe me it will hurt!!!
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!
  • you can buy acrylic nail remover in boots and superdrug for abut 3 pounds it takes them off in about 20 mins
