I was on the dole in April 2010 and started work in the first week of May, my average gross monthly wage was £5000.

Anyone else know about Month 1 tax codes and their implications on the amount of tax deducted?

Week 1? Is that the same as Month 1? A refund is always nice but Im worried I may not have paid enough tax! Really dont want to get some kind of bill demand with my P60!

Can't you post the details of your pay packet on here as it will sum up the cummulative amounts for the year...?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

In order to know your tax position you need to advise exactly how mutch you have earned and the tax month these earnings go to, how mutch job seekers you recieved, how mutch tax you have paid, and what your tax code should be. Your tax code may well be 647L the same as the emergency code but may differ if for example you get any taxable benefit from your employer.

It is only with these details that anyone can tell you if you have over or under paid tax.

a week 1 code, whilst being an emergency code normally taxes you either correctly or a little too much.

if your only income was JSA in april and you earned 5,000 per month for the rest of the year and you have no BIK or other income then you are probably taxed about right or due a small refund
