Why are there so many FOR SALE/ houses for sales, Popping up everywhere?

every road i see, there are houses for sale?

where there wasnt 1 year ago,
why are they now cropping up everywhere?

what is the reason? start of another recession/depression?

    Have a look at home.co.uk, put in your area, go to the House prices tab and find the asking price report - there is a bar chart at the bottom to show how many houses are for sale. I bet you anything you like that there is not an unusually high number of houses for sale compared to previous years.

    Round here the number is gradually increasing as properties are put up for sale and none actually sell...

    50% more than last March here it would seem.

    As mentioned above, loads for sale at unrealistic prices.

    Only decent property is selling at reduced prices, people will end up chasing the market down once again. None of the current indicies suggest prices will rise for a while and the even the chancellor agreed albeit indirectly things will get worse, before they get better.

    But have a look over a longer period than one year ago - I'm looking at the graph for Wiltshire since 2006, and there is no sudden peak in 2011 so far.

    It's good news that there are more houses on the market this year compared to 2010, when the housing market was completely in the doldrums.
