Selling Endowment Policy

Options
Because of the poor performance of my endowment policy with Phoenix, I wish to cash it in. Rather than accept the surrender value offered by the issuing insurance company, I am trying to sell it on the open market and have received better offers. Unfortunately they all want the original policy document ( I have a copy) which has gone missing during several re-mortgages over the years. The various mortgage providers deny all responsibility and claim to have passed it on with the title deeds.Phoenix claim they cannot issue a replacement document.
Has anyone ever had this experience and overcome it?The difference between Phoenix's offer and the others is significant. Any advice appreciated

  • This should not a problem. Normal procedure is to apply to the Life Office for a duplicate policy by completing a lost policy declaration.
They are being difficult. I suggest you ask for this form and if they get difficult, tell them you'll go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
