Extra income please!

Hi All,

have been mooching around on here for some time but only just got the courage up to start a thread. I am a school teacher and in need of a bigger income (as so many of us are). Already lead a pretty good money saving life but need to focus now on earning more. Any ideas are helpful...

:)

Have you considered Usborne books ? You already have a fantastic backround ;) and probably a good set of contacts going, it will fit in with your current job with no obligation to fit in a set amount of hours,

There is a thread on this board, come have a read :)

How savvy are you online, so many people are in the affiliate marketing game to add a few extra pennies to their pocket? My partner like many of her friends are into their backing and have a number of people, groups and events they bake for. It is nice if you can find a way to make money from your hobby, you still need some down time, particular with the stress endured in your day job!

What about private tutoring? Not sure how you are fixed for working hours but could you do anything childcare based after work or during the holidays? Like summer schemes, childminding, after school clubs? I'm pretty sure that as a teacher you could really boost the staff ratios & child care settings would be pleased to have you.

Thanks everyone that commented. I have tried signing up to some survey sights but they never seem to send any work, also tried some comping sites but have never won anything.

Will definately spend my weekend doing some research into your ideas. I did question the tutoring but did not know where to start. Any ideas?

Before you start tutoring it would definitely be worth buying a dictionary from a web site such as amazon.co.uk
  • Hi there

I'm a teacher too and often feel like I need lots more money.

Have you ever thought about marking examination papers e.g. GCSE, if you look at various examination boards, there's normally a request for examiners of various subjects.

I've been doing this on and off for about 10 years and although it is very time consuming, (you may have to give up weekends and evenings), you could get a lump sum of about £300-£500, after tax.

    Hope this helps!

Ooooh saucer of milk for table 3!

Just to agree with hols1969 here. My dad is a teacher and the exam marking is an option. Nice bit of extra cash. It is a lot of work, although work you can do in an armchair with a cuppa, which could be worse!

Selling your old stuff off on ebay or a car booties is also an idea. I love doing car boot sales (am a morning person) and you would be amazed at what people buy! One mans trash and all that.

I personally earn a bit extra buying wholesale and selling on amazon/ebay/car boots (hoping to make it a full time job soon!) You can get started with only a few quid but you'll need to do your homework (ha! sorry!). Not easy to make a living from but an extra couple of hundred a month is easily achievable if you put the research time in.
