Quick question. I normally par boil mine before putting them in the oven.
Can I just toss them in oil un-cooked and put them in the oven? If so how long do you recommend?

Depends how thickly cut they are, i did some yesterday that were quite thick, and they needed about 45 minutes. But no probs with just the oil.0

Don't forget that frozen chips are partly cooked. I usually put uncooked/raw chips in the oven on a lower heat at first to part cook them and then the last 10 - 15 mins whack the heat up to brown/crisp them up.It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.:kisses3:0

They are great with the skins kept on, just a quick squirt of olive oil from a sprayer and a sprinkle of 'Season-All' by Schwartz0

I microwave mine first for approx 5 mins which cuts down the cooking time.0

jacket potato wedges are our favourite. I don't parboil first, just line a roasting tin with baking parchment or foil or whatever, scrub the potatoes clean and cut them into wedge shapes. Brush the parchment/foil sparingly with oil, arrange wedges in a single layer, brush tops with a little more oil, season with salt and pepper, then put in a hot oven (hottest setting) for about 30 mins, turning over after 15 mins. The exact time will depend on your oven, so keep an eye on them the first couple of times. They are ready when they look nice and brown. Because you have lined the oven tin, you will only need to wipe it out, and healthy because very little oil. Loads better than any bought oven chips or wedges. You could make your own recipes for flavouring if you like, as well!0

i do mine on "the george" from raw with some chilli powder and some salt .tonight i tried the swartz garlic and herb seasoning for wedges but didnt find it stuck to the potatoes as well.im food conscious and use the low fat spray oil so that was prob why it didnt stick

Here's a lovely home made chip / wedge recipe ...
Take a plastic sandwich bag and tip in a teaspoon of paprika, a sprinkle of salt and pepper (to taste) and a few dried herbs.
Chuck in your potato wedges (I don't bother parboiling mine but I do think this would work even if you did) into the bag and toss around until they're all covered.
Spray a baking tray with oil (I used quite a bit) and place the wedges on it. Re-spray on top and voila! In the oven for about 30 mins if not parboiled?
I leave the skins on and get the goodness from under the skin :-)
Happy eating!Pay full price? Not since 2002 my dear. :j0
