Comparison websites - multiple credit searches?

Hi everyone,

Just had a flurry of emails from various insurance providers now that my car and house insurance is coming up for renewal. Just putting 2&2 together i jumped onto credit expert and there are a fair few searches of my file. I am annoyed at myself if I will have missed a box that needed ticking to prevent an annual resurgence of these checks!:mad:

I suppose a savvy shopper should be checking these websites each year anyway to get the best prices, but i am not too keen on having a multitude of searches on your file just to get a cheap quote from a comparison website.

Am I right in thinking these are unrecorded searches (whatever that is)
