Kitchen unit handles

I've inherited from the previous owner of our house a 70s kitchen. I've just given it a good scrubbing and just noticed how grubby the handles of the units are. I am not sure how to give aluminium its former glory back ? The cleaning products I am using don't seem to make much difference.
Thank you in advance

Have you tried a basic metal polish? That would be my first product to try.
If all else fails, it may be worth pricing up replacements from somewhere like Wilkos or even ebay - I am sure they can't be that pricey (can they?), and new handles will help to modernise and brighten up the old units.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
