Credit Rating been butchered?

Hi all.

Im after some advice as to how to stop dodgy loan companies (Fresh Start Finance/Super Financial Solutions etc etc) from calling me and emailing me every few days.

Have of course added the phone numbers and email addresses to reject/junk lists but is there any way to get them to officially remove you from any 'enquiry' lists, as asking them doesn't get me anywhere.

This all came about when a few years back I foolishly filled in a form stating my interest in a loan, and it turns out it has completely blitzed my credit rating since then and I want to avoid these companies not only contacting me but also from accessing my credit file.

Many thanks, apologies if this is in the wrong area.

    Register with the TPS? http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

    Just change your number/email?

Send a letter to say you formally demand to be removed from thier contact lists?

    Tried any of the above?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Yes. I have tried most of the above, of course.

TPS doesn't ever stop every single call or text coming through, as Im finding in my case.

Have changed email, but changing phone number is not practical at this time.

Any answers to the latter part of the question, in terms of stopping them from accessing my credit file?

I can handle calls and emails, but I want to stop them accessing my credit file.

What makes you think they do have access to your credit file? Have you checked it lately? The only searches that are performed on there should be ones you have authorised or creditors looking for you. If they are searching when they shouldn't be start with a complaint to the CRA.

Last time I personally checked it was at a healthy rating.

However in the past week I had a discussion with my bank re. account offers/new cards and so on, nothing out of the ordinary, and the assistant explained to me how bad my credit rating was, and that it had been accessed by aforementioned companies about 100 times in a matter of months so as to contact me with loan quotes, loan offers and so on, all of which had taken my rating right back down.

Pretty frustrating as Ive just gotten my finances on track and thought I was building up a healthy credit rating.

My next step is obviously to pay for a full credit check asap, but if the bank assistant was telling the correct (and by the manner of the conversation I think he is) then how would I go about filing a complaint?

Presumably CRA meaning credit reference agency?

    Which one in particular?

Why would you pay when every single thing a lender can see about you is on the £2 statutory report? That rating by the way, it means nothing, it's not on the statutory report, lenders never see it, in fact the only person that does see it is the CRA- and you, if you pay them. £2 statutory reports from all three UK CRA's (experian, equifax, call credit) and then complain to any these searches show on, it might be one, two or all 3. Also complain to the OFT and trading standards.

Why would I pay? £2 is paying, yes?

Lodged a complaint with the host website a few weeks back but got nothing of note back.

OFTs/CRAs next after speaking to bank and getting credit report.

Anyone else been in a similar situation?
