Will recent spending on the cards go against me?

O.K... so I've known for a while that I cant go on with my credit card payments...they cost me over £400 a month as it is...so knowing that I cant really continue paying I've done a bit of spending on the cards recently...I've filled up the freezer, put a few bits away for Christmas etc... Now I'm wondering if this will go against me when negotiating with the creditors...people here advised me to get what I can out of it before the **** hits the fan...but I do feel guilty...so ...will the companies notice this spending and give me a hard time?...I do intend to pay every penny that I owe back...just cant keep up the current level of payment...used my credit card to pay off a catalogue debt in it's entirety too...not good I know!

They are going to give you a hard time anyway. The best thing you can do is refuse to converse on the phone and insist everything is done in writing. On the phone is where they excel at horridness.
The other thing you really need to do is seek outside help to get on top of your spending problems. Did you manage to get to the GP? Last time I read anything you wrote you were planning to ask for help there.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

thanks xx..Haven't been to the G.P. yet...going on Thursday...but have cut up my cards and taken them off the payment bit of all sites such as Amazon etc. so I cant order anything except if I pay by debit card...life is a bit miserable without being able to spend money though.......am thinking of getting "caller recognition" put on the phone...0

SSA, is there anything you could take up to fill your time so that you aren't miserable? Gardening, visiting family/friends, walking?0

It wont make any odds that you spent on the cards right up to the point that you break your agreements... To be honest, most of us probably spend until we hit a point where we cannot continue and realise that a DMP is the only inevitable route.
It may not have been the best idea to continue spending when you knew you had to stop but none of us is perfect and you will pay it back; it will just take time....Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0
