Land Registry Form B178

Hi all, went BR December 2010, have received a form from Land Registry today (form B178 Notice of application to register restrictions against the land).

I'm pretty sure I'm ok to sign and return this form but wanted to check? Wanted to check as I was told previously on here not to sign anything without the correct advice!!

Thanks for any help guys.

Tom

    Hi Tom

This form is ok to sign, in basic terms its telling you the OR has applied to the Land Registry to register restrictions against your home, in other words you can't sell the property or transfer legal ownership without the OR being informed.

When people on here mention 'not signing forms' it is usually in reference to any forms your lender may ask you to sign after BR that could make you liable for any shortfall debt from the sale of your house if you were to be repossessed or give the house up voluntarily.

    HTH :)
