Forum Newbie - a little bailiff paperwork advice please

HI, I'm not sure if this is in the right place so feel free to move it if it isn't!

I'm after some advice regarding paperwork for an agreement to pay off our council tax with Ross and Roberts civil enforcement agency.

The hubby and I agreed to a walking possessions order to pay off our council tax and payments were set at £83 a month.
The paperwork was signed last june and we have our copy here.
We paid each month even though it was a bit of a struggle, however we defaulted on the March payment as it completely slipped my mind - poorly kids and birthdays and inlaws visiting so mind was elsewhere. I know it's my own fault but hey ho.
Today we got a visit from a collections agent for Ross and Roberts, who clamped the car and was all set to remove the other items too.
Luckily mother in law was able to bail us out and made a card payment for the full amount owed.
Now that it's cleared I have a question - the original agreement that we signed and have a copy of states £83 a month for 10 months and 1st payment date is 15/06/2010 which would mean the payment we defaulted on was the last payment.
The collection agent's copy had the date altered and it said 15/07/2010 - the 7 was drawn in over the previous 6. The agent said that as the agreement was set up on the 15th june they wouldn't expect us to make a payment that day and the agent who'd set it up must've changed it once he realised.
I paid the first few payments over the phone and as such do not have a receipt for them so cannot check this however if they have altered the paperwork without our knowledge do we have the right to complain - if we hadn't defaulted this month and had thought we'd finished paying we would have defaulted next month as our paperwork states 10 months from june
Do we have a leg to stand on? I tried asking the collections agent but he wasn't very forthcoming.
I hope all of this makes sense - poorly baby keeps climbing up me as I type!
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated as I never know where we stand with regard to things like this.
