a good cleanser?

I'm looking for a good wash-off/foaming cleanser that will remove make-up and not dry out my skin or irritate my eyes.

As this is for everyday use, I would prefer not to have to pay a lot. Anything under £8 considered.....

A new revelation for me: natural yoghurt and oatmeal mixed to a paste. Smear it all over face, rub gently, wash off. Seriously.

  • I know you said under £8 but i would recommend the Clinique liquid soap cleanser..Its about 13.00 but lasts AGES so by the time you have bought a couple of bottles of another cheaper cleanser this wouldnt have ran out so doesnt really work out that expensive! It comes in a large pump bottle but you only need a small amount and it lathers up and gets rid of make up and is also mild too!! I use it with the clarifying lotion after but if you dont want to should be ok!Again this lasts ages bought the clarifying lotion in Oct and use it every night but still have almost half left!:D

    ^^ Aqueous cream isn't a cleanser!!

I take the earlier point about a good quality cleanser but you still can get good quality ones for your budget OP. La Roche Posay, Vichy, Eucerin, Weleda, Ponds, Witch and Aveeno are all great quality brands for under £8 on Google Shopping. If you look even harder, ordinarily expensive brands such as Dermalogica and Caudalie can be found for under £8 there as well.

    Happy shopping :)

    Er, yes it is.
However, aqueous cream is not generally considered to be a good moisturiser (see warning section below) and instead is more useful as a substitute for soap when washing. Using aqueous cream instead of soap can cleanse the skin while also preventing it from drying out.

I wouldnt use this to cleanse the face though and get make up off!Its more for people to use on their body when they have irritated skin.I got prescribed it by the doctor once when I had irritated skin between my fingers and it felt quite oily so can imagion this bringing you out in spots and making your face greasy!

I've used it for years and my face is neither spotty or greasy. In fact I am 45 and have very good skin for my age. You use it in the same way that you would use soap and wash it off afterwards. It leaves my skin lovely and soft.

Its good if you use it properly: Lush Ultra Balm. It works well if you apply, rub and then take it off with a damp flannel or cotten wool pads but the water needs to be warm for it to work or you just end up with it not coming off properly.

Otherwise Clinique also sell Take The Day Off balm which I haven't a clue on price but it seems to last a long time (I know someone who has it and used to use the bottled stuff I use to take off mascara, shes converted now to the balm so it must be good!).

I don't know of any cheaper brands I can recommend which remove all makeup including mascara, most do skin fine but either sting eyes or don't do anything but smudge mascara and I end up having to fork out for a more expensive eye makeup remover which sort of defies the point! I really think you do get what you pay for.
