Good luck! Let your personality shine through. They're looking for someone that they think they'd like to work with and would be able to relate to teenage boys. However good your answers to their questions are, if they can't see that you're a warm, likeable, approachable human being underneath all that then your nerves will do you a disservice.

You can do it! Positive mental attitude.

Are you familiar with the relevant legislation (childrens act etc) - at least enough to know it's there and to be able to name check it and show you have an understanding of the needs and rights of children in care and some of the particular issues that may affect them.
And remember that however nervous you are, some of the important skills are likely to be the ability to manage stress and communicate effectively. Which isn't just about what you say, but how you say it and come across. So if you're not sure what they're looking for, don't get flustered, but take a deep breath and ask them to repeat or rephrase if necessary.
And don't forget to say about shift work - it's a home, it's open 52 weeks a year so be prepared to show a willingness for weekend, BH and Christmas working. (The bane of my life is people who see that a job is shift work and still expect school hours and every weekend off.)
And nother good luck to add to the pile!
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • If I tried to guess at specific questions that would currently come up then I'd probably be a bit out of date. I'm sure you'll get something on equal ops poss re sexuality and a question involving risk. Also re confidentiality and a scenario where the kids (sorry young people) have annoyed the neighbours. The every child matters again used to come up quite a bit, coalition have quietly done away with the website but you might still get asked. Also think about the different agencies you'd work with and the importance of communication. Bit late now but if you're doing last minute prep check out https://www.communitycare.co.uk that's a specific social care website though most used by qualified social workers, the forum is pretty handy in some parts. Good luck
