Eon Final Bill Policy - OFGEM Price Simplification
Many of you will know that Eon deny Direct Debit and Dual Fuel Discounts on final bills.
I have been discussing this matter with the Consumer Focus Confidence Code Manager. The Code Manager has been receptive to my comments that something needs to be done by the Comparison Site Service Providers regarding visibility of this policy. The Code Manager is already reviewing this matter.
However, following Ofgem's announcement yesterday, there are proposals which I feel cover Eon's 'backdoor policy'. I believe that the issue comes within the scope of actions needed for fairer, simpler and clearer pricing policy. Also Ofgem are looking towards fewer barriers to switching through simpler and accurate comparison.
It is actually, a very good test case, to see how rigorously Ofgem enact their announcement. Consequently,I have asked CF if they would like to take this issue forward with Ofgem.
As I understand it,there is an eight week Consultation period where the Suppliers will be putting forward their new pricing proposals. It will be fascinating to see how Eon respond on this issue, or risk falling foul of further referal to the Competition Commission.

Absolutely nothing is being done to stop customers having their bills trebled by the backdoor whilst still trapped by flat exit charges. Of course Eon's peculiar exit charge should be displayed clearly. But I fail to see what part of Ofgem's report gives you hope.
'Fairer' - yes, technically it will be fairer - the poor will be forced to pay more and may have to pay £19 per month even when they have used 0 kWh. Yes, that is 'fairer' and 'clearer' but is it really an improvement?0 -

Precisely, because they now have an obligation towards fairer, clearer and simpler pricing structures.
I understand your wider concerns.
Please don't hijack this thread with them, which is specific to the Eon final bill Policy.0
