Newbie Seeking Info On A CCJ.

Hi. Firstly thankyou to everyone who posts on these forums, been a lurker for a while now and some great info and help on here!

Ok.. so i rented my previous premises for 10 months but never heard anything from my water provider, and stupidly never contacted them either.

I then moved house and have been here for 7 months.

I have just been credit checked by a letting agency as I was interested in a bigger property, but after paying out £225 in agency fees I was told my application wasn't worth the paper it was written on as I have a CCJ!

I knew nothing about this. South West Water haven't contacted me ATALL prior to this.

So here are my questions:

Is the £225 in agency fees now no more than a lesson learnt?

Can the CCJ acquired be removed? (as they didnt contact me at my new address, which i was also credit checked for before the ccj went on file)
