NHS pension appeal

Hi my husband had his pension application declined after finishing work with the NHS through ill health. He has put an appeal in and we have been told that it is now with ATOS and the medical advisers being looked at again. Has anyone had any experience of this and if so any ideas how long it will take before we get a decision Thank you in advance

good luck with your appeal, i have been turned down twice now by atos, they are a pain to deal with. I have had a quadruple heart byepass, had 3 of the grafts fail, had 3 heart attacks in the last 12 months, had 8 stents also in the last 12 months and still have only 2 grafts open,one of which is expected to close off again within 12 months, then i will be in a serious condition, my consultant has written to atos and told them that nothing more can be done either by surgery or intervention. Atos claim that they cant recommend that the pension be granted because they think that i may make a full recovery!! my doctor has written to they saying that i have less than a 50% chance of living until i am 60 years old and that i am permanently incabable of regular employment of any kind.
This has now been ongoing for 9 months and still no sign of an end to it.
