What is a lie week?

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on my situation. I will try and explain best I can but it's very complicated.

I left the company I worked for 5 years to work for another company. My final working day was 28th Feb of this year. I was of the understanding that we were paid a month behind, so when we were paid on 28th this would be for January's work. I have also asked long standing members of staff there and they are also under this assumption.

However when I contacted accounts to double check this I was told that I wasn't owed anything. This was the email I received (no matter how many times I read it I can't get my head around it):

When you leave you are !paid a LIE WEEK this is calculated from the date you went from hourly pay to monthly pay.
!
You went on to monthly !pay on the 1.11.2006.! Prior to the 1 st November you worked the following days as hourly paid
!
23,24,25,26 27th October 5 days 30,31 October 2 days !total 7 !days @ 8hrs per day !totals 56 hrs at the rate you were paid at that time:A
£4.95 per hr times 56 equals £277.20. which was paid on your final
payslip.

Does this make sense to anyone? Are they allowed to revert back to my starting wage??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!!!

Hi thanks for reading. Yes positive, I thought that too. I showed it to the accounting department at my new work and she had never heard of a lie week either?

The question is when you went onto monthly pay did you have to wait two months before you were paid, and if you did then can you prove it with payslips or letters advising this would happen or bank statements showing no credit to your account for the first month?
