in Cutting tax
My tax code was changed from 647L to BR during a temping job despite having not earned enough to pay tax (some paperwork missing apparently).
Now it's been changed back to 647L and I'm still below the threshold for paying tax.
So can I expect a tax rebate in early April?

if your tax code gets changed before your March pay is worked out then you should get the tax back in your march pay.
however if the tax code is only applied after 6th april you will need to get the tax back from HMRC0 -

And how would I do that as I'm currently 'between jobs'?:o
My tax code has changed back, I've received a letter from HMRC informing me.0 -
You will need to complete a P50 available here http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/forms/viewform.jsp?formId=764
I am assuming you have been changed onto 647L mth/WK 1 else the tax would have been refunded into your wage. You will nedd to supply any P45's showing your Tax / Income since April 20100 -
Well I'm claiming JSA at the moment so how does that affect things? I clicked the link in the post above and it said 'Use form P50 to claim tax back from us unless you're claiming Jobseeker's Allowance'0

Then it should get refunded with your jobseekers.. However just to clarify
1) When did you stop working for Employer
2) What is the Tax code on your P45
3) Have you handed P45 into Jobseekers
4) When you say HMRC have changed it back I assume you have received a Coding Notice, Does this state for use by your Employer or JSA and definately for 2010/2011 Tax Year?0 -

2) BR
3) No, they didn't ask.
4) Yes, I've received a coding notice with the code changed to 647L.
It is for the 10/11 tax year.
It says 'you need a tax code so that Jobcentre plus can check your tax position...at 5 April 2011'0 -

I don't understand how the Jobcentre can have NOT asked for your P45, surely that would want that as part of the proof that you are not currently employed? I think you should ring them up to tell them that you have a P45 but weren't asked for it. I would expect you to then get your overpaid tax back with your JSA payments but it might take a few weeks.0 -
First and foremost hand that P45 into JCP, retain part 1a employee copy. If it is too late for this tax year (which to be honest it probably will be) you need to wait until JCP issue your P60 and apply for a refund using form I previously mentioned. Good luck. If you need help with the form you could always ring HMRC after 18th May with p45 and P60 to hand for assistance.0

Received my P60. The P50 form isn't relevant as I'm claiming JSA.
On the HMRC website, it says send in all the relevant paperwork to claim back overpayment from a previous tax year.
(sorry, not allowed to post a link but it's a page titled - Reclaiming tax if you've overpaid through your job)
But to what tax office address should it be sent? The one in East Kilbride or my local tax office?0
