I hope that someone can help me with this. Looking to buy some champagne for my partners 40th Birthday, but I really havent a clue what to buy!!
I have heard of all the bollingers, etc but are they really the best?
Any recommendations gratefully received anything up to around £100 a bottle.

Recently I was at a party and they served Bollinger and this - http://www.laithwaites.co.uk/DWBase/jsp/article/index.jsp;jsessionid=0E635E01ACDB552774C26B81B853CA0D.node1?productId=prod2290564
and we all far preferred the latter. Not sure if you can buy individually though.Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
I love Lansom's Black label champagne, usually around £30 a bottle, but can be found for around £22 when on offer.
I also like Tattigner which is around £36 a bottle as well.0 -
For something special but not well known, Champagne Gosset produces the Grande Reserve and Grande Millesime champagnes, a blended vintage and vintage respectively. http://www.champagne-gosset.com/indexusmini.html Deep flavoured, rich and full bodied, these are regarded by quality wine merchants as exceptional champagnes. Expect to pay £50+ a bottle. You'll probably only find these at independant wine merchants or online.0

Have had vintage Dom Perignon before which turned out to be corked - my uncle was gutted, was given for his first born son. So far for me NF works out ok
Hope the birthday goes with a decent POP!At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0 -

Really good value for money, IMHO."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
Tattinger probably the best for middle of the range price imho
Krug of dom perignon usually top of the range or look for henriot champagne or duvey leroy is one of my favourites.Keep right on :T :beer:0 -
How about the Heidseck recommended in the Tesco ASDA pricecheck thread? Looked to me like you could get it for a net £10 per bottle if you were canny ... :money:
... but then again ... if you reckon that £100 a bottle is what floats your boat then I am sure you can find plenty at Oddbins0 -
Agree with the Tattinger.
I tried both Dom Perignon and Cristal at Christmas and neither are worth the money in my opinion.
You could probably get a couple of days away in Reims - the champagne region for the price of a bottle of Cristal.0
