How many days off did you have off each time with your daughter?
Were you paid for these days off and if so, what is your company's policy with regards to taking time off for dependants, do they pay it? - it is only statutory that you can take unpaid leave so it may be that your manager put it down as illness so you still got paid.[/QUOTE]

ive had 2 seperate days off with dd in the past 6 months, they were unpaid emergency leave.my manager told me i was not allowed to make time up, whereas another employee has been allowed to thus her record shows as if she was completing her shift as per contract. if she was called away to attend to ds she was signed out for her normal finish and then made the time up.

Absolutely so. The Act in question is no longer the DDA but the Equality Act 2010 which gives you rights through association with a disabled person. The time off for supporting the disabled relative does not have to be paid time off but does not count as sick leave. The area manager knows his stuff as you were discriminated against according to the law. If you ever go for another job, this sort of leave should not be mentioned in a reference either.
