I Wanna a quiet vacuum cleaner.

Can anyone recommend a quiet vacuum cleaner please? I've had a string of Dyson's over the last 7 years and they're great, but so very noisy. My preference is for a cylinder as they are mean't to be quieter, but I'd be happy with an upright. Miele's are mean't to be quiet, but my friend showed me his cleaner and I felt it was little better noise-wise, than my Dyson. Electrolux used to make lovely and quiet cylinders 30 years ago, what are their latest like? Why can we send a probe to Mars but we can't make a quiet vacuum cleaner??!!

Has anyone got a Phillips Marathon cyclone cylinder as sold in Argos. They actually advertise that as being quiet....any consumer advice would be greatfully received.

Thanks.

We got a Miele TT5000 which is pretty quiet. It has a quiet setting which is also good suck. It has higher settings too if required. We had an old Philips previous for 16yr which it is quieter than. We also tried a Bosch bagless cylinder but it was v loud and poor performance - sent it back and got the TT5000 instead. V pleased with it.

    :)

  • Thanks for your reply, I'll take another look at Miele then. Interesting to hear the Bosch was noisy, as I did consider one of those before you posted that comment.
