Pension Transfer

Am finally getting my percentage of ex's pension.
I am disabled and don't work so it is a lump sum
I want to take my drawdown as am 56 to pay off part of my mortgage and to do some repairs.
I don't want to take an annuity as my illness is progressive and I will need money later on to deal with my needs then.
As its taken me so long to get it, I know exactly what I want to do but apparently I'm incapable of knowing my own mind, or it seems that way
Can I sort this out myself because I have no faith in IFA's as had a bad experience, and consider some of them to be untrustworthy

There are 30,000 IFAs. You shouldnt let one tarnish the other 29,999.
You can sort it out yourself if its a money purchase scheme but if its a defined benefit scheme then you will almost certainly require an IFA to sign off on it as its classed as a high risk transaction.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
