What was the point of being able to opt out of receiving these publications when the flippin delivery person still puts one (with no address) through my letterbox......
...... don't get me started on Virgin Media... 7 yrs to get them to stop sending me mail at my last address... i've just moved and they've followed me!!!!!
I've rung, opted out, written and return sender all sorts of junk mail and I can't get them to stop. MSE any advise???

I've come to the conclusion that opting out of receiving junk mail doesn't really work too effectively (though to be fair I don't get that much).
So, whenever I get junk mail, first thing I do is check if there is a prepaid envelope in it. If there is, I rip up the carp they sent me pop it with the original envelope into the prepaid envelope and post it back to them. I like to think about how much it's cost them in printing, paper, envelopes and postage. Then I cost them more by posting it all back in an unusable state and they have to pay for it's disposal. Plus it keeps the post person in a job too.
I haven't tried returning stuff in non prepaid envelopes in case it costs Royal Mail rather than the company that sent the junk mail. If anyone can confirm that postage costs would be collected from the company if no stamp was put on the envelope I'd be double delighted to start sending those back too!

I live in a flat . Out of six phone books, four are normally left outside until I put them in my recycling. I wish the phone book, yellow pages and thomson local, were all opt in, rather than opt out.0

Just to say the poor deliverers are literally earning pennies for each book delivered...be nice to them. Many are just doing it to keep their heads above water.0
