i have a loan with wonga for £600 that is due to be paid back this friday,i am going to be unable to pay this back this month and i cannot extend it as i do not have the funds available to even do this.i have been advised to cancel my debit card and change bank account to stop them taking my money.i am able to cancel debit card immediately, however i won t be able to change my bank account until next week due to it being too close to pay day for my companies payroll to change information.does any one know if wonga will still be able to get into my bank account between me cancelling my card and setting up a new bank account, thanks

Is there enough in the account that they can take the money back?0

As far as I know Wonga can take money from an open account even if the card is cancelled as they already know the account details ( rather then just the card details)
Thing is and no matter how harsh this sounds it aint your money, it is theirs and they are going to do everything they can to get it back.

my wages will go in an midnight was going to transfer them into my savings account to stop wonga taking everything, but don t know if i will have time to do this as i don t know what time wonga apply for their payment.my wages won t cover the full payment this month as have been off work sick for 2 weeks so it is going to be a short month as it is0

They will Manually process the payments at 09:15. You will incure a hefty charge if you dont pay it back, best thing to do it call them and explain, Or if you need to call them and say your wages are going in a couple of days late as your work have changed payroll and you wanted to inform wonga asap, They will move the payment day giving you a bit more time. As long as its in the same calender month it should be ok.0

I pay my bills,does that make me a self-righteous 4sshole ?,
or have I somehow managed to misread your obviously well intentioned post ?Space available for rent0 -
Most people who borrow from Wonga don't have a clue how they will pay them back hence Wonga have become rather good at getting it back themselves.
Suprising how may people who use the service have "things" that come up so they can't keep to the agreement."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
You are better off explaining the situation to wonga and ask them to take the money for the interest and fees that they require you to do for an extended pay date rather for them to take the money out the account and put you in further problems.
You have been short paid due to sickness fair enough, but unless you tell wonga they will only think that you are avoiding wanting to pay and they will be able to get it from you as someone else has stated by your account.
Don't duck this one. Make a call.0 -
I have not ever dealt with wonga so not sure what they are like. One thing I do hear a lot from people about what to do when you cant make payments to your creditors is to contact them. Instead of burying your head in the sand for it only to appear a short time later with an even bigger debt call wonga and explain the situation accept the charges but ask to pay half friday and half next week. It will cost you a bit but you took out a wonga loan so its to be expected. Im sure they would appreciate you contacting them about it. After all their own adverts said they are committed to responsible lending.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. id report the card as lost/stolen I do wonder how long people will get away with this, cos surely the banks are going to figure it out sooner or later..The card has not been lost or stolen and cancelling it will NOT remove the account details from Wonga's system.lil raine then do what you said and at midnight wait to transfer the money out of the account Just hope you don't have an overdraft charge or anything like that as you might just find you get a bill from your bank for "bouncing" this payment there are a lot of self-righteous Really ? Such lovely language for one who has only just joined..So you know all about the people here and seem to think that paying your bills makes you an 4sshole ??? 4ssholes on this site pay bills ect.. if you could you would you do what YOU NEED TO DO TO LIVE, THRIVE & SURVIVE

and just to carry on my self righteous attitude..it is Amen not Ahmen :rotfl:
I don't think I sounded at all self righteous (and I would have a job seeing as I am being repo'd in 2 weeks) but the truth is that it is no longer the OP's money and that they borrowed on a short term basis without the ability to pay it back.
Being fluffy and cute is not going to help..The money belongs to Wonga and given half a chance they will take it.
I would suggest that the OP talks to the CCCS or something like that for more long term help and advice.
