Diabetes and Endowment policy

Relative has just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and has been given a course of tablets to control it.
He has an endowment policy which was taken out in 1990. Does he have to inform them of his diabetes?
was looking at this website http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Living_with_diabetes/Everyday_life/Insurance/Life_assurance_critical_illness_income_replacement_and_mortgages/
and in the first paragraph it says that if you already have a cover then it is unaffected.
could someone confirm this
thanks in advance

Yes, no need to let them know and cover will continue.
If he ever decides he wants to surrender the endowment, he should always get quotes for replacement life cover (if necessary) before surrendering, to check whether he will be charged higher rates because of the condition. If so, it might make it worth keeping the policy.Trying to keep it simple...
