I got some soda crystals today. It says on the back to use half a cup of them to aid the washing powder..... if I want to use just soda crystals how much should I use? Also is it better to put straight in drum or in the draw?

Do I put the vinagar in the fabric conditioner place in the draw??

    TIA

PS - looked in local boots and tesco and still no Napisan :wall:

Waitrose do Napisan. For spot stains, I use that Ace bleach sometimes, but I decant it into a spray bottle and that makes it far easier and more economical to use. I think a really good long soak though is the key to getting rid of most stains. Obviously not great for nappies though if they are humming. By the way Superdrug do a very good stain soak equivalent to Biotex - £1.09 last time I bought it for 500g.

with the soda crystals. i put in about a fabric conditioner lids worth, ( the little lids u get on lenor concentrate) and i put it straight into the drum. i never put washing powder into the draw. not sure why , i guess i did have a reason for this, but i found the clothes clean better with it straight in the drum. and if i do mix soda crystals with washing powder, i put in about half the amount of washing powder i would normally put in , and then i use half the amount of soda crystals i would use. hope this makes sense.

  • does any one have any advice on how to remove baby food stains from baby clothes - even with a bib it still gets everywhere and now wont come out!
ive tried soaking in bicarb and soaking in nappy soak as the nappies always seem to come out perfect - but still the stains remain on the clothes.

now i have a freezer i am making my own baby purees and they dont seem seem to stain as bad - must be the preservatives in the jars.

have looked at vanish and other such stain removers but not convinced how safe they are for babies or how economical.

    any old style tips?

    Thank you, Sarah

can you please help me get the stains out of my daughters clothes?
I mainly cook my own food for her but very occasionally have to give her a jar but these are a nuisance because they dont half stain her clothes and I can't get them out . Although sweetpotato and carrot do stain aswell but just not as bad.

Any advice would be greatlly appreciated.

There is a very simple method- put the stains on the outside washing line- the sun bleaches all veggie stains! It might sound strange but it does work!

    Napisan works wonders.
Small chemists stock it, as do larger Tesco stores.
Comes in a small box, white and blue with red writing on.
It is often the real nappy users saviour! Just use a small amount in with normal wash powder/liquid and off you go.
Bio powder (with enzymes) also breaks down food stains better but not sure if you fancy that with LO (we went on to bio when LO was around 1 ish and no probs!).
    Fairly cheap too.
