help - do I actually have MPPI?!

Ok, forgive the fact that this is a very, very stupid question.
I am unemployed, and very frightened about losing my home. But the thing is, I don't actually KNOW/remember if I have MPPI. I can't find documents about it - but I think some of my documentation is missing.
Is it likely to have been sold to me with my mortgage, if I have it? Would it be with the same company as my mortgage?
Presumably if it was with anyone else I'd be paying monthly and would be aware!
But do mortgage companies generally sell you the insurance themselves, or do they use another company?
Please don't say 'call up your mortgage company and ask'. Other than the fact that I'll seem like a total idiot, I don't want to make them too aware that I'm struggling (yet). If I ask if I have PPI with them and I don't, then they will KNOW I don't have it at all and will be more likely to keep firm tabs on me.

Did you use a broker, or go direct to a lender?
If the former, phone the adviser and ask what you took.
If it was a lender, you're going to have to bite the bullet and ask. Try to get the person who sold you the mortgage as it won't start any alarm bells ringing that way.I am a mortgage broker. Hi Keepgoing,
My MPPI is with my mortgage provider but comes out as a seperate payment each month. Do you not have any paperwork for your mortgage to at least tell you what your payment is so you can see if your monthly payment is higher meaning it is possible they have bundled it in with that.
