Temprorary Arrangements - can only pay £1

Could anyone help me out here?

My partner has a number of unsecured loans and cannot afford to make the minimum payment at the moment. So we decided that it would be best if we wrote to the individual companies together with a financial report from CCCS and a smaller payment.

Can anyone suggest what to write in the letter?
Is there any specific legislation I could mention - although at this point I am thinking that the law would not be on our side as we broke the agreements by not paying the full monthly amounts.

The debts amount to £200 but they are a snagg because we have already received letters about 'late fees' and one phonecall of a threat of 'summons' - court needs to be avoided at all costs and we do not want to spend a year paying back £200 making it higher because of interest etc.

Any help much appreciated,
God bless

I'm not sure - you could try the National Debtline's website as they have template letters for various things.
Points I would make though are:
    1) they don't have to stop interest and charges so you may need to push them after a while.
    2) they can still take you to court although this is absolutely nothing like you have seen on the tv, any judge will see that if you haven't got it you haven't got it and will see you have taken advice from CCCS - they may even make a court order for you to continue paying 1 pound!. It is at the county courts I believe - it's not the crown court where you see on the tv where murderers etc go - it's full of dull rooms with a desk and that's about it - there would be you, a judge and the other side (that's if the other side bothered to turn up!) - frankly don't worry about this until you need to and you can get further help and advice on this aspect - from here, CCCS and other sources.
    best of luck

Have you spoken to CCCS? they will often give you a template letter to use.
Aside from that you could use the wording from here explaining the situations, offering a token payment and asking them to freeze interest. You will need to amend slightly to say you have already sought advice etc - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=21654579&postcount=49

Unfortunately nothing can guarantee that your creditors won't take court action and nothing can guarantee they will freeze interest.
