New HFO Low

Good morning all,

Many thanks for all who helped yesterday. I have sent request of Credit Agreement and 'Prove it' letter to HFO.

But...... can you believe this????

Going through their correspondence I found, at the back of an Experian report they sent me, AN AERIAL VIEW of my house!!!!!!!!

This is such a blatant 'we know where you live' threat!! I can't believe it!

If I owned this property rather than rent it I'd have been beside my self with worry. Especially as it has current market values etc also detailed on the sheet.

Can they get away with this??

Report them to the OFT and trading standards. That is way out of order.

... AN AERIAL VIEW of my house!!!!!!!!...

Could be a benefit - you used to have to pay someone to do those.

Worth bearing in mind there's nothing to stop anyone taking a photo of your house.

The only redress might be, as fermi says, if using the photo in this way breaches OFT 'non-threatening' guidelines.

But posting a pic of your house to you is not, in itself, illegal.

Yes. Certainly is. Or at least what the OFT would consider to be so.

I used to sell such photos door to door as a student. They cost from £30 for a cheapie to £50 for the deluxe version in a gilt edged frame. So consider it a freebie from them!

It's probably just a screen cap from Google Earth. :p

Yeah, its a Google Earth pic but still, this ain't right. Especially in the context that they have used it in.

This is a common tactic used by HFO (although haven't seen it that much recently).

It is a clear form of intimidation and you should report it to the OFT through the consumer direct website and put a complaint to google earth as I doubt that they are licenced to use it.

I read that you have sent a prove it letter to HFO. Beware that their latest tactic is to reply with a questionaire for you to fill in, this trying to get you to admit to having had a debt, don't fill it in, just report it to the OFT

Hi, just checked and they haven't been sending these out recently, probably scared off by the amount of complaints that were generated from this. How long ago did you receive this? is it a google street view or a mouseclick.com?
