What does status “0” mean?

Options
I recently viewed my credit report to find out why I can not get credit even though I have paid off my debts. The debts I have paid off say “status 0” and it lists a scale of 0 - 9 for debts but it does not say what this all actually mean. One is led to believe that if one pays off ones debts they effectively clear them and are back in good credit but it seems not.

What is status “0” and how come paying off your debts does not improve your credit rating?

Status '0' means everything is now up to date (generally) the higher the number the worse the debt late/missed payments are. eg a 9 would mean REALLY BAD! BUT its not just those numbers to look at, its wording litle "settled" to look out for too.

Number of payments late or missed. '0' is totally up to date and '8' usually means defaulted.

If you are showing '0' after fully paid it is because they can't mark you as late for something you don't owe. If you are having trouble getting credit, I would suggest that it is some other reason and not because you have a bunch of '0's. I wish all of mine said '0'.
