Nat West loans are phoning me at work

Hello, I could really use some help. In the past I'd missed a couple of payments on my NatWest loan which amount to roughly £318. So I arranged a plan with them to get back on course that I could pretty much afford & it would stop me getting in to more debt. However not long after my wifes NatWest account went £4.00 overdue because of charges and they phoned to say that it broke the agreement. So I explained what had happend and they reluctantly reinstated the prior agreement. Later that month I paid my wages into the bank on a Friday afternoon after work ready to pay the loan installment that was due to come out of my account the same day only to find that on Monday they phoned my place of work asking to speak to me via a recorded message. My boss went mad because to phone is busy all day and NatWest phoning 3 times in 1 day was tying up the phone line. Later that day once at home, I called the loan phone number and explained the situation. It turned out that on the friday they tried for the installment at 9am, before I'd had chance to pay my wages in. Again they reluctantly agreed I'd made reasonable effort to pay the installment and had just missed their collection by a couple of hours. I did ask the woman I spoke to to remove my work phone number from my profile & told her the hours I'm at home should they need to call me but she said that she didn't have my work number and it must have been one of their debt recover departments that called and she didn't have access to their files. And that was that.
I'm now really worried that NatWest will call me at work again if for some reason I miss a payment or a pay cheque doesn't clear in time for a loan installment due date.
Can they legally phone me at work? My boss has made it pretty clear that I'm now on thin ice over the matter & the last thing I need is to risk my job cause he's the sort of guy that angers easily & will find an excuse to get rid of me if I let this continue and Natwest keep phoning work.

there is a template letter that you can send asking that they only contact you in writing.
I am sure someone will provide a link - if not I will come back with a link later

  • Dear Sirs,

    Account No: XXXXXXXX

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls and I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine. Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company may be recorded and used in evidence and I expect this harassment to cease immediately.

    Yours faithfully
