Nationwide....long wait?

Hi,

I am a FTB and applied for a mortgage through NW on Feb 14th using a broker. On the 16th NW collected the arraggement fee and surveyors fee.
They requested a few documents on 2 seperate occasions, the last one reached them on 3rd March (signed declaration, not sure why this wasnt requested earlier)

I contacted my broker on the 9th but was told to 'just hang in there as these things take time and NW are back logged with applications'. Since then i havent had any contact regarding my mortgage and am not sure where i stand.

Is it impatient of me to contact the broker again or is this time frame the norm?
Also can i speak directly to NW if i think my broker is not performing?

many thanks for your time :)

We applied end of Jan and had our offer ten days later with nationwide. Was even audited by the large loans department during that time. Our broker hounded them day and night. Call your broker, it's what they are paid for :-) best of luck

I had my application accepted on 18/02/11 pending some documents they requested, I had to wait for them to come through to me first, before I sent them off on 05/03/11.

    Offer came through today 20/03/11.
hang in there it takes time

BUT, your broker is getting paid if your offer comes through so get him to hound them day and night and get on his back too.
  • Thanks for the reply, very similar dates to me so hopefully it will come through soon :)

My broker was sending my mortgage to Nationwide this morning, I got a text msg from Nationwide at about 11.30 saying they have successfully received my application, my broker rang me a few hours later to say we had passed the initial credit checks. Did yours start of as quick as this? Hopefully its a good sign but then again this could be the norm and now it will wait. Hows yours going now?

Ours started as quick as that too, we were then asked for extras paperwork by large loans dept and had offer within two days
  • Yes the initial stages were very fast.
It turned out the broker had submitted my bank statements incorrectly and the application had been suspended. I only found this out when I phoned nationwide myself!
The day After giving the broker an earful I had a call off NWs surveyors scheduling me in for Friday
